Douchebag

Douchebag

Also known as “urban backpackers” these douchebags take a backpack with them everywhere they go.  They also have the instinctual ability to find and hang out with other backpackers, yet do not socially interact.  This is most likely due to them wanting to retain their sense of individuality and uniqueness, but really it just makes them more of a douchebag.

Where can you find these urban backpackers?  They are mostly found around coffee shops, bookstores, malls, or pretty much any place you once thought was a great place to hang out but not anymore because now they hang out at these places.

Do you really need to take a backpack everywhere you go?  What if I just needed to buy milk at the store?  Doesn’t matter.  Gotta take my backpack!  What do they put in their backpack?  That’s the big mystery because you never actually see them pulling stuff out.  I can make an accurate guess as to what’s in those backpacks…granola bars, ky jelly, and some dildos.

All I can say to all those urban backpackers is this…grow some balls and ditch the backpack.  You don’t need to take it everywhere you go!  You’re not going to starve to death in a metropolitan area.  You don’t need survival supplies if you get lost.  Search and rescue crews will not be deployed.  All you’re doing is just pissing people of with your presense;  including me.

Why Rooftop Advertising Isn’t Booming

Qwest Logo

Ever since the creation of google maps and google earth, you’d think rooftop advertising would be booming right now, but it’s not.  Why is that?  Well, there are two reasons that immediately come to mind…

  1. Google doesn’t update their satellite image database often enough.  Some areas have images that are 3+ years old!
  2. Most businesses are not located in major cities where most people will be viewing maps in depth.

Even with these drawbacks there are companies that still forked out a little cash to be seen by google’s eye in the sky such as Qwest, Salvation Army, and Target.

Some ads were created way before much of the internet even existed such as Coca Cola’s logo in a mountainside in Chile in celebration of their 100 year anniversary.  Now that google earth has been created they can now reap the benefits of arial advertising.  Or not.  How many people do you know that look at mountainsides in Chile?

I think rooftops are better left to school boy pranks such as this.

Small cock.

Small cock.

Apparently, some guy named Jim Yeager has the twitter account name yeags.  It doesn’t look like he uses it, so is it too much to ask if he could transfer it to me?

Is Resveratrol the Answer to the French Paradox?

Resveratrol

Resveratrol

Short answer…probably not.  If only the world was a simple place where anyone could eliminate all their health woes with one little miracle pill.

What is resveratrol, you ask?  In short, it’s a chemical found in the skin of red grapes.  Apparently it’s supposed to reduce heart disease and prevent cancer.  It’s been shown to extend the life of certain lab animals.

Ok, but what does this have to do with the French paradox?  Well, French people are known for having almost no issues with coronary heart disease despite having a high fat diet.  In fact, they consume more saturated fat than the average American.  So I guess Americans figure that taking resveratrol will put them in the same health category as the French.  Ha!  Fat chance of that happening (pun intended).

It may seem like a mystery to some, but really it’s all to clear.  We as Americans consume way too much processed food.  The French eat more natural foods and although these foods may contain more fat or what not, it hasn’t been altered or changed in any way.  One of the big evils in food processing is homogenization.  What happens in homogenation is the fat particles are extruded and broken apart from each other so like in milk they are evenly suspended in the liquid.  This causes problems because now all these broken up fat particles are more easily absorbed into your bloodstream which contributes more to heart disease and what not.

If you drink milk on a regular basis there are certain brands you can buy that don’t homogenize the fat in their milk.

  1. Organic Pastures Dairy – In my opinion, the best milk you can buy!  Not only is their milk not homogenized, but it is not pasteurized as well so it contains all the beneficial enzymes and bacteria your body needs.  If you are lactose intolerant you can drink this milk no problem!
  2. Claravale Farm – Also another raw milk distributor which sells their product in glass bottles.  Their milk is always top notch!
  3. Straus Family Creamery – If you’re not ready for the jump to raw milk, Straus’ milk is pasteurized but not homogenized.  They sell their milk in glass bottles as well and the taste is quite good.

Death Star BBQ

Death Star BBQ

This custom death star barbeque is made from two weber grills, I believe.  It’s for sale on ebay and has about 4 days left (as of this writing).  This would be pretty cool to have, though it will probably go for a rediculously high price given the number of page views (not to mention being featured on geekologie).
