Will HaikuOS ever launch?

I remember it like it was yesterday. Tech was booming and a new operating system was gaining momentum. BeOS was the promising new operating system that kicked the pants off Windows in performance. It gained enough popularity amongst the silicon valley crowd that TechTV even started doing segments featuring the Be operating system. Yes, everything looked very promising until Be, Inc. declared bankruptcy and was eventually sold to Palm, Inc.
Then came Haiku; an open source development project focused on recreating a totally new operating system based off the BeOS. I was excited to see the perfect OS reborn! However, I’ve been waiting patiently for several years now and unfortunately it’s still in development! Will Haiku ever launch?
Now the question is “Should they launch?” Now that Google has announced they are coming out with Chrome OS, should Haiku even bother entering the market?
I have another theory, though. I think that maybe Chrome OS will be based off Haiku. For several years now the Haiku team has been invited to Google’s summer of code events. After Chrome OS’s release, I wouldn’t be surprised if it had an uncanny resemblance to Haiku.

That’s right folks. It’s that time again! Lebowski Fest is fast approaching the San Francisco bay area. Save July 24th and 25th on your calendar. The first night is a bowling party and the next night is a screening of the movie. I attended the movie screening last year which was great. The night was packed with several musical groups who performed nothing but pure awesomeness. From what I hear, the bowling parties are totally awesome and I plan on attending this year. If you’re in the area, I highly suggest attending. In the meantime, try to keep marmots out of your bathtub and I’ll see you there!

I came across a relatively new term today that I thought was kind of catchy. Obamaggeddon. Maybe this word has been going around for awhile and it’s just because I’m not hip enough to be in the “know” that I’ve just caught wind of it. Irregardless, I thought the coined term was a bit humorous.
Besides being comical, the Trends Research Institute believes this is a real phenomenon that will come to fruition in 2012. Ohh wait, that’s kind of comical as well. Ha ha. However, I suppose if a trend researcher wasn’t right most of the time, they wouldn’t have an institute in which to actually do research in.
Can’t get enough comedy? Here come the t-shirts!
